The name of Marbella is known worldwide, this small town in the Mediterranean is known anywhere in the world, either for its history and its golden age with the jet set, its nightlife and entertainment, its beaches, its incomparable offer golf, Puerto Banús or if envied microclimate.

The Marbella summer is bustling and full of things to do, but if you are looking for an autumnal getaway where you can enjoy beaches, good weather and terraces in the sun, Marbella is the perfect destination. Here are 10 reasons to visit Marbella in autumn:

REASON 1: The weather

Marbella and its iconic backdrop, La Concha mountain, have turned this small town with big-city dreams into the perfect place for an autumn getaway.

Geographically speaking, Marbella has certain characteristics that make it stand out from its neighbours, like its microclimate. Marbella’s microclimate gives it warm winters and cool summers, thanks to the protection provided by the Sierra Blanca mountain range, which means that the average temperature year-round is a pleasant 18 degrees.

REASON 2: The beaches

Marbella has around 27km of beaches, but instead of white sand and crystal clear waters, the area offers a wide range of leisure activities, water sports and stunning walks with a variety of beach bars and clubs to suit every taste. It also has four ports, or puertos: Puerto Banús, Puerto Deportivo, Puerto de Cabopino and Puerto de la Bajadilla.

REASON 3: Gastronomic offer

Marbella is the third-most-popular culinary destination in Spain after Ibiza and San Sebastián, as chosen by tourists this summer according to the classification system invented by the leading restaurant booking app in Spain, El Tenedor.

According to the app, Marbella is “one of the pearls of the Costa del Sol, a holiday destination that suits families and luxury seekers alike”. The destination hopes to be named Spanish Capital of Gastronomy in 2020.

REASON 4: The Promenade

Marbella has one of the most beautiful promenades along the Costa del Sol, with six kilometres from Puerto de la Bajadilla to Puerto Banús, where you can run, walk or cycle this autumn. Not only that, but it includes exercise machines and an endless number of cafés, restaurants and beach bars where you can stop for a break.

REASON 5: Marbella nightlife

Tourists have long celebrated the nightlife in Marbella. The city has a vast array of bars, nightclubs and pubs to suit all tastes. From charming bars in the old town to luxury nights out at Finca Besaya or Olivia Valere, or a dinner to remember with views over Puerto Banús at restaurants like A1 Aretusa and Carpaccio Banus.

REASON 6: Water sports

Marbella is a great city to enjoy the sea. You can spend time trying water sports and enjoy activities like windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing, jet-skiing, paddle boarding or going on a boat trip. There’s no doubt that the sea is an excellent option for making the most of your leisure time, helping you to disconnect completely.

REASON 7: Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús has the fourth-most expensive marina for mooring your yacht, and that’s not the only reason it’s worth a visit. The promenade, the sea breeze, the chic ambience and a selection of the best boutiques and luxury brand stores, as well as the wide range of cuisine.

REASON 8: The Old Town

Getting lost in Marbella’s Old Town means discovering the prettiest and most traditional side of Marbella. Everyone who visits loves the Old Town, with its charming narrow streets and long history.

REASON 9: Hiking

Marbella is more than just nightlife, luxury and entertainment. There are places like the Cabopino dunes where you can walk along the beach or go hiking towards Juanar or La Concha. A number of visitors come to Marbella to go hiking, and to enjoy the countryside and pleasant climate.

REASON 10: Golf

Think about the perfect conditions to play golf and compare them with the weather in Marbella—it’s warm, sunny and seldom rains. It has the right landscape, with large open spaces and views over the sea and up to the mountains; it has numerous fully-equipped golf courses. Sounds just about perfect, doesn’t it? And that’s why Marbella, in the middle of the Costa del Sol, is seen by many as the capital of golf.

For these and many other reasons, Marbella is the ideal location for a getaway this autumn.
