Discover Dubai’s best beaches

Although it’s renowned for its skyscrapers, architectural indulgences and multiculturalism, Dubai is also well-known for its stunning, vast beaches with crystal clear water. Prepare to be happily surprised if you’re interested in learning more about Dubai’s surrounding coastline.

When it comes to deciding on a beach, the first question is always whether to head to a public beach or one of the many private beaches.  Many of the hotels and resorts have private beaches, some of which are privately owned, but you’ll also find many beautiful public beaches in Dubai.

Generally speaking, tourists tend to go to the beaches affiliated to their hotels as they don’t have far to walk and have more facilities. However, even if the hotel where you’re staying has a private beach, we recommend a visit to other beaches as you’ll discover some of the best beaches in the UAE.

Open Beach (Russian Beach)

Open Beach, also known as “Russian Beach” (because of its popularity among Russian tourists) is one of Dubai’s most popular beaches. Located near the city centre, right on Jumeirah Beach Avenue. Open Beach gets crowded, so it’s best to get there early to find a good spot.

Jumeirah Beach Park

Just a few metres away from Jumeirah Avenue, the park has shaded areas and others that are ideal for sunbathing. It has sun loungers, parasols and green areas, making it the perfect spot for hot, sunny days.

Al Mamzar Beach Park

On the peninsula between Dubai and Sharjah. The park boasts several small coves and long sandy beaches with calm water, picnic areas, playgrounds and swimming pools.

Umm Suqeim Beach (Sunset Beach)

One of the liveliest and most visited public beaches, especially at sunset. When the sun sets behind the luxurious Burj Al Arab hotel, it beams on the hotel and is reflected in the waters of the gulf. Hence the name Sunset Beach.

It’s also popular with surfers and beach volleyball fans. Surfboards and equipment can be rented there, and classes are available at the Dubai Surf Centre.

Al Sufouh Beach

Also known as “the secret beach”. Perfect for a quiet relaxing time, one of the few unspoilt beaches in the area, tucked away among the 5-star hotels. White sand and crystal clear water await you.

The beach can be reached by following the pathway from Al Sufouh Road, next to the Dubai College bus stop. No facilities available.

Jumeirah 3 (Kite Beach)

One of Dubai’s liveliest public beaches and a great spot for sports like beach volleyball, football and kitesurfing. It also has a few food trucks serving food and drinks for you to enjoy with family or friends.

Al Urouba Street – Jumeirah (Mercato Beach)

Opposite the Mercato Mall on Jumeirah Road. The streets and squares in the vicinity all have Italian names. The peaceful, family-friendly beach is known for the natural beauty surrounding it, and the promenade that runs along the bay, which is great for a long walk or cycling.

Although some of the beaches are private, this doesn’t mean they’re exclusively for hotel guests, in fact, anybody can use the beach if they pay a minimal daily charge. The price includes the use of the hotel’s swimming pools and water areas.
