24 Hours in Beirut

Known as the Paris of the East, Beirut offers pretty much everything you could ask for a vacation with a difference! With sun drenched sandy beaches, a myriad of restaurants, bars and clubs, world class museums and great shops, there’s so much to explore in the city.

To help you start planning your vacation in Lebanon, we’ve put together a guide of things to do in Beirut in 24 hours.

Morning

Pigeon Rocks, Lebanon, Beirut

Start the day with a walk along the Corniche promenade, where you can catch glimpses of Mount Lebanon, as well as enjoy views of the Mediterranean (and even take a dip if you wish!). For breakfast, pick up a cup of black coffee and a slice of baklava from one of the many street vendors that line the promenade.

Next, head inland to Beirut’s Mazra District to the city’s national museum. With a history spanning back more than 5,000 years, the National Museum on Rue de Damas should be at the very top of your list of things to do in Beirut.

Afternoon

Downtown Beirut, Lebanon

It’s clear to see why Beirut is often called the Paris of the East as you wander through the broad boulevards of Downtown Beirut. Known for its cafes and restaurants, the cosmopolitan heart of the city is a great place to stop for lunch. After fueling up, it’s time to shop ‘til you drop in the area’s myriad of boutiques, many of which boast international designer labels.

If you’re looking for beautifully crafted local goods for the home or as gifts, head to Saifi Village at the southeastern periphery of Beirut’s center. Known as the city’s creative neighborhood, the area was largely destroyed during the war in Lebanon, and is now a mix of modern buildings and traditional Levantine architecture.

Evening

In the evening, head to the Gemmayzeh strip, just 15 minutes from the Le Royal Beirut Hotel by BlueBay. What was once a sleepy district has been transformed into a nightlife hotspot in a city now known as one of the party capitals of the world! Enjoy delicious traditional mezze washed down with Lebanese wine at one of the area’s smart restaurants before heading on to one of the buzzing clubs which often play host to international DJs. Feel like you’re flagging? Grab a caffeine pick-me-up at one of Gemmayzeh’s 100 or so coffee shops open late into the night.

So that’s our list of things to do in Beirut in 24 hours. We’d love to hear your thoughts on what to do in Beirut. Let us know by commenting below!
