Dubai, the city of sky scrapers, truly comes alive on New Year’s Eve in a flurry of stunning light shows, fireworks and parties. In 2014, Dubai broke the world record for the largest and longest fireworks display, releasing 479,651 shells in just 6 minutes, so visitors to Dubai on New Year’s Eve should expect a similar spectacle this year. Barcelona, Spain
Join the crowds and head to Plaça Catalunya in Barcelona on New Year’s Eve, where locals and visitors alike choose to ring in the New Year. Just don’t forget the grapes! It’s tradition in Spain to eat 12 grapes, one for every chime of the clock, at midnight. Eating the grapes is said to bring a year of prosperity. Other unusual Spanish traditions to try this New Year’s Eve include dropping a gold ring into your glass of cava and wearing red underwear, which are both said to bring good luck in the following year.
