Now that summer is ebbing away from us and the nights are drawing in, you might be thinking about getting some autumn sun – one last bit of relaxation on a beach before the inevitable onset of winter and the tightening of its cold grip. Here at BlueBay we think you deserve one last break, so here are some of our best destinations for autumn sun, in no particular order…
Majorca
Popular with Europeans all year round, the Mediterranean island of Majorca has everything going for it, including a range of hotels for any budget, great beaches, stunning scenery, plenty to do and, as mentioned in our recent blog post, lots to do away from the crowds.
The BlueBay BelleVue Lagomonte and the BelleVue Club are perfect for exploring the town of Alcudia on the North West coast and everything it has to offer, including the famous beaches. For those that prefer something quieter and more picturesque, the town of Felanitx near Portocolom in the South West is perfect.
Majorca is great for autumn sun up until the end of September and into early October.
The Canary Islands
If you want to hold off a little longer and take your break in October you’ll have to head further south and the Canary Islands are perfect. Although not on the same level as their mid-summer highs, the temperature should still be solidly in the mid-20s and there should be plenty of sunshine.
The Bellevue Aquarius and BlueBay Lanzarote, in Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise respectively, offer everything you need for a relaxing holiday in, you guessed it, Lanzarote. For something a bit more luxurious, head to the BlueBay Beach Club in San Agustin, Gran Canaria.
Cancun, Mexico
Want something a bit bigger and more exotic? October is an ideal place to explore Cancun and the Riviera Maya on the Caribbean Coast of Mexico. This slice of tropical paradise has cooled down slightly from the searing heat of summer but is still hot enough to top up the tan.
The further you go into October, the risk of rain increases, but these are often tropical showers which, although heavy, are usually brief. It’s also officially hurricane season in this period but fortunately these are very rare.

Dubai, UAE
Maybe a beach holiday isn’t your thing and you’d much rather some retail therapy and luxury in the playground of the rich and the famous? Well, Dubai is the autumn sun destination for you. With world-famous shopping malls, ultra-luxurious hotels and even the world’s largest indoor ski slope, there’s no excuse for having nothing to do.
