We’ve put together a full-day itinerary that offers a range of activities for the whole family to enjoy during your stay at BlueBay Grand Esmeralda.

Board a Catamaran for a Snorkeling Adventure

Begin your day of adventure in the nearby Puerto Aventuras marina. Here you will board a 45-foot Catamaran for a half-day snorkeling tour.

Along the way you’ll stop at two different areas known for colorful fish and calm waters perfect for small children and novice snorkelers. Your family will enjoy drinks, snacks and lunch aboard the boat.

Get Up Close and Personal With the Endangered Yucatecan Crocodile

Crococun began as a crocodile farm, and today is home to an intimate zoo that lets kids get up close and personal with monkeys, macaws and deer. Here kids can hold parrots, baby crocodiles, and even snakes.

Don’t be surprised if you have this well-maintained zoo all to yourself! While conveniently located on the main 307 highway, this small zoo is rarely busy.

Grab Street Tacos in Playa del Carmen’s City Park

While development in the once-sleepy beachfront of Playa del Carmen has boomed in recent years, it remains a great town to experience Mexican culture. One of the best ways to do this is to grab some of the city’s famous street tacos and relax in the town park while you enjoy a late afternoon meal.

Choose from one of the many taco stands around the park. Look for one with a line of locals, which usually indicate cheap, authentic and delicious tacos. Expect to find beef, chicken and the local specialty “al pastor” (marinated and slow roasted pork) with a variety of condiments available.

Get around using taxis, a rental car or speak with the concierge at the BlueBay Grand Esmeralda to organize a driver for the day. These activities are all within 30 minutes of the hotel, making for a fun and easy day for your family exploring the Riviera Maya!
