When you go to Riviera Maya, you sure are planning to do to traditional visit as Chichen Itza, Cancun or Playa del Carmen. But if you will like to do something different, we suggest you go to the small island of Holbox, located in a magical place, where the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean mix.
The island is a part of Yum Balam Nature Reserve and it is considered a paradise with great beaches and a very interesting marine life. And it has remained almost untouched, without the rise of big hotels and mass tourism.
If you visit the island in the summer months you might be lucky enough to see the whale sharks that congregate in the waters near the island.
To get to the island you must take a ferry from the port of Chiquilá. And in about two and a half hours you will be arrive to this wonderful island.
