Portugal has just been declared the world’s best golf destination in the first edition of the World Golf Awards (WGA), equivalent to the ‘Oscars’ of tourism, but the specialized in golf.
At the opening of the WGA, the Portuguese country got the most important awards of the night: “the best golf destination in Europe” and “the best golf destination in the world.” The assignments of the distinctions are mostly due to the excellence of the golf courses in the Algarve. And this is not new to the Algarve region that has received numerous awards from the tourist world (in November 2013 was named the “European Golf Destination 2014” by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators – IAGTO).
