The BelleVue Club Guide to the Alcudia Area

With so many facilities onsite you´d be forgiven for spending the entirety of your stay at the BelleVue Club Hotel. However, the resort of Alcudia is well worth exploring too. Situated on Majorca´s north-east coast, Alcudia boast a historic old town and stunning coastline.

Alcudia Old Town

Located around 2 miles inland, Alcudia Old Town dates from the times of the Phoenicians and Greeks who settled here and made it the capital of the island. Later, in the 14th century, large walls were added to protect the local community from pirate invasion.
Today, visitors can enter the old town through one of two gates, built at the same time as the walls, and explore a maze of narrow streets. With traditional fiestas, classical music festivals and one of the best markets on the island, the ancient town is a far cry from the more touristy beach resort, and offers those who make the trip inland a more authentic taste of Majorcan culture.

To really understand the history of the area, we suggest joining one of the guided tours which run every Wednesday and Friday, starting by the 14th century Sant Juame Church at 10am.
Shopping in the old town is fairly limited so take full advantage of the morning market which runs on Tuesdays and Sundays, where you can pick up a souvenir or sample some local produce.
If you’re planning a trip in July or August, be sure to look out for the bullfighting!
The Old Town has a number of excellent restaurants and cafes for those looking to sample authentic Majorcan cuisine.
We recommend sampling the tapas at Sa Caseta or Sa Portassa, both popular with locals and visitors alike.

The White sand blue-flag Alcudia beach stretches for 3.4 km along the coast, and offers shallow wáter which makes it particularly popular with families.

You´ll find the largest selection of restaurants and cafes towards. Puerto d´Alcudia, catering for all budgets and satisfying even the pickiest of taste buds. There are also a number of nightclubs and bars in this área for those looking to dance the night away.
