Michelada with the Plastilina Mosh beat

In these hot summer days, my friends, you have to remember to hydrate and… why not “make yourself happy” with a very fresh beer. In Mexico, where they like to add spice to most of its gastronomy, from dishes to sweets, including some beverages, they prepare the Michelada, a delicious drink made from beer, ice, lemon and other sauces, which has spent years gaining ground in Mexico and beyond its borders.

This drink has several versions as far as preparation and history of its origin are concerned. What we all agree on is:

· its refreshing taste makes it ideal for sunny days when you seek the taste of something more than just beer

· it’s a remedy for hangovers and it is quite common to have it in the morning or at noon.

The “classic” Michelada is prepared frosting the glass (put salt moistened with lemon juice on the rim of the glass) and it includes ice, half a lemon juice and beer. Then, depending on the different variations, you can add a few drops of sauce such as tabasco, soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce.

There are many ideal moments to consume it: in the pool or on the beach sunbathing, as an appetizer for lunch or dinner, in a moment of resounding thirst … Whatever the time, let’s make a toast together!

Its origins, according to an interview with engineer Michel Esper Jorge published in issue No. 10 of the magazine Vive in San Luis Potosi, go back to the 70’s when Michel came to play tennis and at the club, he asked for a beer and requested a glass with ice, lemon juice and hot sauce, maggi sauce (similar to soy) and Worcestershire sauce. The waiter asked, “And what is that?” He answered, “Well, I guess it’s a Michelada…”

After the Michelada, if you feel like dancing and are staying in Cancún or Playa del Carmen, go dancing with Plastilina Mosh beats, tonight (13 July 2012) at the Music & Beach Fest.
